Three decades of quiet, careful teaching.
Adarshabani Academy began with a handful of children and a simple belief — that a good school is built on relationships first. We are still building.
A legacy since 1991
Adarshabani Academy opened its doors in 1991 as a small primary school in Bagsarai, a village in the Gazole block of Malda district. What began in two borrowed rooms has grown — patiently, year by year — into a full primary and secondary school serving over a thousand children from the surrounding countryside.
Through every season we have held to the same idea: that learning happens best when a child feels known. Our teachers stay for decades, our families return generation after generation, and our gates open each morning onto the same wide green field they always have.
The first classroom
Founded as a primary school for the children of Bagsarai and its neighbouring villages.
The secondary section
Classes extended through the upper grades as the first cohorts grew up with the school.
A campus of our own
The main academic building and the large playground field were completed.
Labs & computers
Science laboratories, a library and a computer room opened for senior students.
1,200 strong
Today the academy teaches over 1,200 students across all grades, in English and Bengali.
Through the years
Faces, gatherings, ordinary days

“We do not measure a school by its buildings, but by the children who walk out of it — curious, kind, and unafraid to ask the next question.”
For over three decades the secretary’s office has guided Adarshabani with a steady hand — building classrooms when they were needed, welcoming new teachers, and keeping the school close to the families it serves. The vision has never changed: an honest, affordable education for every child of this region.
Green fields, a quiet pond, and room to breathe
Our twelve-acre campus sits among paddy fields on the edge of the village. A still pond mirrors the buildings at dawn; a wide playground hosts everything from morning assembly to the annual sports day. There is space here for children to run, to sit under a tree with a book, and to grow at their own pace.
- A large open playground for sport and assembly
- Shaded walkways connecting every block
- A spring-fed pond and kitchen garden
